So....I was supposed to focus on organization this month. Like seriously, turn into a crazy mad organization machine! I kind of did and I kind of didn't. Sorry to disappoint.
Here is some background on me. I love to organize. Seriously in love with it. I love it like a fat kid loves cake. That's A LOT. For reals though, whenever I go back to Shoreline, there is some kind of organization project.....there always is at my mom's house. Mims-I love you, but it's true. I went to Seattle for spring break and ended up going through her closet. It is oddly liberating cleaning out one's closet. I feel so good to donate my gently used items to those who can really benefit from it. Mims donated all her clothing items to Mary's Place, which is a homeless shelter for women. Great cause. Double bonus on the liberating and humbling act. (Check it out, it's a place I would love to work with or for) http://marysplaceseattle.org/
Anyhoo, I won't share pics (I was asked not to!), but we cleaned out a lot of stuff that she had not worn in forever. If you have dust on clothing, it probably means that you have not worn it in a year and probably won't wear it again anytime soon....AKA it gets donated! I had the same issue. Ugh. See ya Maria....those pants need to goo.
"Casa del WAM" also accumulates stuff. We have a lot of stuff. We also have a tiny apartment with ZERO storage. Absolutely none. ZERO! I am happy to say we are moving to a new apartment in the beginning of June. w00t w00t....we are stoked! There are many reasons we are excited, but a big one (for me at least) is storage. We will live in another four-plex and each of us gets a storage unit on site! Boom-score! We have already decided that our hockey gear, outside sports equipment (such as camping stuff, rafting stuff, etc.), beer making equipment and some other stuff will all go in this storage unit. Yay! It will allow for actual "closet" stuff or inside stuff to be in the apartment where it belongs and we will be able to access it without a plethora of sports stuff or craft stuff falling on me!
I'd have to say that overall, my monthly organization focus has been the WAM Wedding. I have updated our master/giant excel spreadsheet a freaking ton. I have made appointments, made deposits, made big purchases, gotten frustrated, highlighted, crossed items off my numerous TO DO lists, and made big decisions. Damn, it feels good. We are at such a good place with the wedding that it feels awesome! I went through my wedding notebook and threw out my ideas and only kept our for sure ideas, etc. It feels good. Real good. Like the breeze through your hair on a sunny day driving with the sun roof open and country music blaring. That good :) I am on top of things like whoa. Less than 100 days until the wedding....BRING IT ON!
My life this semester has been an organization balancing act. I think I have done okay so far. This blog, as much as I would love to give 110% to it, I simply cannot. Not until summer. Not until a few things are off my list. Not until the school semester is done. Not until the chaos of life is settled. I will get there...I will.
Until then, I will continue to organize and reorganize my life. And love every minute of the chaos....
