Wellness

It makes stereotypical sense to focus on wellness for January. I mean, isn't it 90% of society's resolution to  lose weight in the new year? Yes, I am pretty sure it is. I don't just want to lose weight, but I want to get healthy. I want a lifestyle change. I need a lifestyle change.

(Side note: I am double dipping! These are my wellness goals for Brustuen Biggest Loser. 2 birds. One big mother of a stone. Convenience is awesome)

My January goals: workout at least five times a week and take my vitamins every day. Seems easy enough, right? HA! No. Working out has been...well, working out (Zing! pun intended...is that technically a pun?!?) However, that is not always the case.  Have you met me? Do you know what my schedule looks like? My life is a crazy juggling act and I don't even have kids yet!  Yikes. Buckle up baby. It is crazy ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I love it. Every crazy minute of it. Anyhoo....working out is always the thing in my life that gets "cut" because it takes too much time. That was old Maja....new Maja uses working out as an outlet. An outlet to relieve stress, regain motivation, relax, let my mind wonder, to make more lists (defeats the relax aspect) and to just work toward a goal.

Will and I are running our first half marathon in March.  Ugh.  Whose stupid idea was this again? Stupid bucket list. Stupid idea. Some days I hate the idea. Other days, I love it. Gives me a goal to work towards. When I have a goal, I push myself harder. I also got sweet, blue running shoes. Love. We are also doing a Brustuen family Biggest Loser and that has been pushing me too. Nothing like a good little family competition and a cash prize to motivate a girl to lose some weight ;)

Vitamins! I love my vit-E-UMs!  I swear by them. Will thinks I take too many, but I don't think so. Why do we take vitamins? We don't get all the nutrients we need from our food and beverage intake. As a woman, my calcium is going to bite the dust eventually and if I can prolong that by taking calcium then hell to the ya I will! Bring on the calcium! I take five vitamins a day and all are treating my body gooooood. All are beneficial, I asked my doctor.....BOOM! Thanks Dr. Blewett! So taking vitamins every day seems easy, unless you are me. I get up for work an hour and a half before I start working and I am usually running out the door so I am not late.  Yup, sometimes I grab breakfast on the go and am a mess, therefore my precious vit-E-UMs are forgotten. Funny thing is, I notice it. I am off when I am without them. I neeeeeed them. I am not a pill popper...

Unfortunately, I am finally feeling organized this month. I also FINALLY got this blog started, so that's it for my first Challenge 2013: A Metamorphosis in Baby Steps entries for January. Overall, January rocked. I rocked it. I stuck to my goals and it feels good.

Next up: Finance Management.

New Year's Resolutions

New Year's Resolutions. What do you think when you hear the phrase? I think of all of America signing up for a gym membership and hitting it hardcore for January....then giving up in February through  December. wah wah wah. Generalization, yes, but still, it's still partly true. I love New Year's Resolutions! I think it's great to have a goal to work towards; it motivates me big time. My fiancĂ©, Will, never  made a New Year's Resolution until we started dating. I am happy (and quite proud) to say that he set one the first year we dated, five years ago, and he is still holding on to it! He gave up cracking his knuckles...which he did like a boss. Since then, nothing! Go Willis!!!

So back to resolutions. I have many goals to work towards. Always have. Like I said, it keeps me motivated. My biggest one? WAM Wedding, June 2013. Girl's gotta get her booty back in shape, like WHOA! In addition to getting in shape for a wedding,  I have many other aspects of my life that need some improvement. My friend, Lexi, felt the same way (about her, not about me!). After much discussion about New Year's Resolutions, about setting goals, achieving or not achieving them, Lexi and I decided to take it up a notch. Now, I have done some research on New Year's Resolutions. I found out that by telling someone your resolution, you are more likely to be successful, so we told each other and now I am blogging about it too! Therefore, we have worked that into our 2013 New Year's Resolution Challenge.....

...."Challenge 2013: A Metamorphosis in Baby Steps." That's the name of our 2013 Resolution Challenge-BOO YA! Here's the deal:  we have four areas of our lives that we will be focusing on throughout the year: wellness, finance management, relationships and self. There are twelve months in a calendar year, so we will chose a focus for each month and rotate through three times. For each month, we pick one to two goals, from our uber long goal focus brainstorm list, to work on for the month. Sounds cool, huh? We think so.

First up: wellness.

Bring it on 2013.

Here I am...

Heeeey Ya'll! I am a blog fanatic. Seriously, love them. More than highlighters. More than cheddar cheese. More than happy hour....Yes, I love blogs. I have this dream of becoming a crafting, DIY, blogging mommy someday like all the fabulous blogs that I follow. What a great life that would be! However, I am far from becoming a mommy, but I have had some recent things pop into my life that I felt are worth blogging about. Also, I have some great motivation from a dear friend, and fellow blog lover (Shout out to you K. Flack!) to start a blog because why not! Someone out there might read it...and if not, I will and it's a fun outlet. :) So here it goes.....WAMalicious is out there....buckle up, it's going to be a wild ride!
