Seriously, how is it already November?!?!?! I have no idea how we are this far into the year, but I am left with no choice but to embrace it. So embrace it I shall!
I have always viewed the month of November as the month to be thankful, mainly because Thanksgiving happens to be in this month. I know, we should be thankful each and every day, however, we are not. There is always something that gets in the way. It's sad, but true.
I've seen a few projects via social media or at school or church about being thankful and sharing that thanks for 30 days, coincidentally the 30 days in the month of November. Friday I was cruising Facebook and came across a friend's post...."Day 1 of 30 Days of Thanks....." I was intrigued. I thought, is this girl doing her own 30 day challenge
So naturally, I Googled it.
I found a website, or more so, I found a blog (LOVE!). The 30 Days of Thanks is kind of like a game, but also more like a social network happy-let's-be-thankful-epidemic. You can participate "silently" and write to yourself and not broadcast via social networks, or you can or you can share via blog. The choice is up to you my friend, the point is to be thankful and reflect.
This is what the 30 days of Thanks involves:
1. First and foremost, get that this is about giving thanks, and if moved to, sharing what you're thankful for with others. The goal is to consciously engage in (at least) one moment of thankfulness every day this month. That's it.
2. The thing for which you give thanks can be big or small--it doesn't matter, because even 30 small gratitudes will add up to something awesome by month's end. Not sure what to be thankful for? Check out the list of some of what people told us they were thankful for when we did this theme last year!
What you're thankful for can be anything at all--as long as you're consciously thankful for it. That's the key.
3. Truly, being thankful is enough. Sharing it via social media or in some other way is a gift to the world, because there are so very many people (we bet you know a lot of them!) who really struggle with giving thanks for the things that they have, or the people or events in their lives. Modeling being thankful is a way to gift them because as you share what you're thankful for, you shine a light--a light that tells others that it's ok for them to be thankful, too.
4. If you decide you want to share what you're thankful for, you might simply say it aloud, or you might choose to write it on paper, blog about it, share it with those you love over dinner, draw something, or even sing it. As with other 30 Day Projects, there's simply no wrong way to do this. Just make the way you do it your own--as unique and special as you are!
Sadly, I have never participated in anything that celebrates thanks like this, but I think that this point in my life is a better time than ever! Since November is my month to "focus on self" I will be writing a post every day and discussing something that I am thankful for. Please, friends, be kind to me. I am busy, like most of you and am already behind two days (yikes!), but have some ideas stocked up. I think that this 30 Days of Thanks project will allow me to reflect on my life and get the opportunity to share with you the things that I hold valuable in my life.
It's an awesome opportunity to share a little more about me with you!
I think that November will be a great month.
