Day 4: Coffee.

I am thankful for coffee. Really, who isn't? People who don't like coffee probably. Too bad for them.
My mom, Mims, got me hooked on coffee.

As a kid I felt like it was so cool to drink coffee. My mom would have a lot of coffee each morning before work/school. She brought me to  Starbucks and I would get mochas...good place to start. Sweet, but has a kick of caffeine that gets my system going. w00t! I have ventured out and have my typical drink, which I have to admit, I do not stray from very much. I will have other caffeine beverages, i.e. tea.....LOVE tea, but as far as coffee goes, I like it black from my Keurig (holla! Such good coffee!!) or a peppermint soy latte :)
Yes. I have dietary special needs. I also have to pay more because of these stupid intolerances. I want to kick and scream every time I have to pay $.50 more just because I am NORMAL and cannot digest lactose...which is completely normal after we get out of toddlerhood.  So, why is it that I pay more? Hate crime.

Anyway. Back to coffee. I can give it up and go cold turkey. However, I love it. I love the taste. I love the smell. These days, I have cut WAAAAAY back. When I have a latte I am a little crazy town. I love it. Natural caffeine high! You can't see it, but I am doing a high kick (as I often do for fun) to show my excitement and pure love of coffee.

I know, I am a nut. A coffee loving nut.

One of my FAVORITE (yes, I love caps) coffee moments on TV was on none other than Gilmore Girls when Lorelai has to go to Weston's because she and Luke broke up. Now, Lorelai is a woman who probably snorts coffee grounds. It hits the bloodstream super quick. So I've heard....anyhoo. Lorelai walks into the coffee shop and when the gal at the counter asks what she wants she says, "I need coffee, coffee, coffee!" The employee brought her three coffees. Ha ha ha....if you get the reference, Bless you! I love it. My husband knows this reference and can laugh at it. It's funny...maybe you have to watch GGs.

Coffee has become a social event.  We meet friends for coffee dates. We go on dates for coffee. Will and I went to One World Cafe for a coffee date when we just started dating. It was snowy. We had coffee. It was cozy and cute. It is my favorite coffee shop in Moscow. We have so many great, character-filled, purely fabulous coffee shops. We have meetings that revolve around coffee. When I managed the Holiday Inn Express, I worked long hours. I was single. I had no life. I worked.  A lot. I drank a lot of coffee....it was part of my diet. As a grad student, coffee keeps me going. I feel like I run on coffee, laughter and dancing. Without those three things, I would not be able to function. For realsies. For realsies. (if you get that reference to summer camp at Flathead lake....kudos to you!)

After reading the blogs I follow and reading posts from friends who are new parents on Facebook, I am sure that when I become a parent, coffee will be an absolute must. I will welcome it with open arms.
So in my last year of school with mine and Will's busy schedule that doesn't allow much room for breathing, I am glad I have coffee.

Today, coffee, I am thankful for you.
